FÅLLAN, HUS 24, SLAKTHUSOMRÅDET

Stockholm, Sweden

Fållan at Hus 24 in Slakthusområdet, Stockholm, is an innovative new venue for music and clubs, with a capacity of 2,400 visitors. Unusually, the venue will be permanently housed within the historic slaughterhouse building, allowing us to make design decisions that are not only long-lasting but also exhibit high levels of quality and finish.

The overarching spatial concepts of Fållan revolve around the filtering of light through various means, along with the idea of grid structures that create layered surface treatments across a variety of scales. This concept of the grid not only reflects the historical and visually dominant concrete structure of Hus 24, where Fållan resides, but also echoes the pixel grid of the digital signage, which serves as a prominent feature of Fållan's visual identity.

The main venue is characterized by a high-tech industrial and digital aesthetic that provides a striking contrast to the historical structure, making a clear and bold statement for the venue as a space dedicated to cutting-edge performances. In addition, the smaller venue, Lilla Fållan, is designed as a lighter and more flexible space, utilizing utilitarian and raw materials such as concrete blocks and plywood to create a sense of impermanence and an urban, exposed feel. Meanwhile, Bakfickan is curated as a dark and warmly inviting space, featuring a light installation that mimics the orange and red warmth of the last rays of sunlight just before it sets, marking the transition from day to night. A perfect place to begin the journey into the night.
