In Valsjöskogen, just outside Österåker in Åkersberga, lies Tråsättra, a group of semi-detached and row houses clustered on a hill around a courtyard, surrounded by forest. The project consists of 16 homes divided into semi-detached houses and three rows of terraced houses.

The steep roof, which gives the buildings their formal character, follows the slopes of the site. The higher sections frame the courtyard, while the lower sections feature a projecting roof overhang that provides shelter for the outdoor spaces facing the forest.

The oversized cladding and the color of the facade resemble the trunks of an ancient thinned forest, allowing the houses to blend into the surroundings. Fewer but generously sized glass sections are thoughtfully placed to frame the nature outside.
