In Värmdö, just outside Stockholm, lies Kalvsvik, a semi-detached housing project set in a historic agricultural landscape comprising 12 homes.

In consultation with the municipality's heritage department, the design draws on a contemporary interpretation of traditional agricultural references. The sturdy corners at the base convey a sense of solid grounding, and the varied direction and dimensions of the facade panelling evoke older storage buildings that have been extended over time. Some aspects are exaggerated, such as the proportions of the panelling, while others are more subdued, like the modern roof silhouette with its minimal overhang.
